way up there in districto nine

whups and a whups-in, what up!

This week has been super great. After last p day, every day seems to just fly by. Each day except p day we start class at 8:30 and do various things until 1:15 at which we break and go get lunch, then at 2 we have personal study for an hour and at 3 class starts again and goes until 7:15 before dinner and after that we study until 9 and go to bed and do it all again.

With all that class time I am learning SO much. Spanish is a great language and I enjoy speaking it and learning it. My district is intermediate and we work hard. Our goal for this week and up until the last week is to memorize 100 words and 20 phrases a day. Plus 3 scriptures this week and memorize all the points for the 5 lessons with scripture references this week. When we accomplish that this week we will be the first district that our teachers have ever heard of to do that so quickly. Our Elders are suuuuuuper motivated to do that and to be #1 in our branch for spanish stuff. all this memorizing is a "good strat" (a phrase often used by the elders and now everyone in our district).

Tomorrow we start a 4 day fast from English! It's going to be great and hard. I did a day full Spanish on my own then two days later Hna Dickamore and I did a day full Spanish again. (I was less diligent that time but will be 100% these next 4 days). It's great.

Spiritually the CCM is great. I LOOOVE teaching our teacher who pretend to be interested people. It is great practice and is really cool. Our last two devotionals have been about repentance and how the Expiacion of Jesucristo should be the center of our lives. Everything in the church is built off of that. It was really cool. John C Pingree came to the ccm and spoke. He did a discussion type lesson and I commented and after my comment, he responded directly to me. It was kinda crazy to have a 70 look you in the eyes and say stuff from the pulpit. It was cool.

There was a broadcast from Elder Holland on Sunday and it was soo good. He also spoke about repentance. It was awesome.

We learned at the devotional last night that the retention rate for the blessed people who choose to accept this gospel is 20%. How scary! It's a hard hard transition but there is hope! Everything is easier with a truly reliable friend and everyone has that potential. If we reach out and be kind to everyone in our wards, especially the new people, converts or not, we will be happier.

Also, if a lovely newly converted member goes to the temple with one of their own family names within 2 months of being baptized the retention rate goes up to 80%. the temple is the house of the Lord. No way to deny it. Go and keep going. Go with your friends, go with your ancestors, go by yourself. JUST GO! It's the best place to be.
